In today’s news, United States grants more than US$57 million in additional aid to South Sudan, British fruit and vegetable production declining due to extreme weather, researchers in Canada determine one glass of alcohol a day significantly shortens lifespan, Ecuador court rules pollution violates rights of Quito’s Machángara river, woman in Rajasthan, India, selflessly donates breast milk to feed thousands of infants, study reveals European consumer preferences for fermented vegan foods, and animal-companions’ adoption and welfare soar in Qatar.

I have an eco-friendly tip for you. There is a popular trend at the moment known as the “no-wash” movement, which basically means if you don’t have to clean anything, then don’t. This practice encourages people to wash their clothes and hair less often to address global warming concerns. As many detergents are carbon-intensive and detrimental to the environment, the extent of the negative impact is dependent on the type and amount of detergent and water you use. Also, automatic washing machines can use a lot of water. If you need to wash your clothes, wash them using lower temperatures or run a short refresh cycle without adding washing powder. Alternatively, you may choose to handwash some items, which can conserve valuable resources.

Now, it’s time to paint your emotional sky with the colors of hilarity by listening to the following joke. It’s entitled “Rise Up.”

A Zen master takes her disciple downtown for a shopping experience. They enter a vegan bakery just as fresh bread is brought out.

“Master, this place is amazing. The aroma is wonderful!”

“I’m glad you enjoy it but set your sights a little higher.”

“Master, what do you mean? Why did you bring me here?”

“Like the bread, we all rise eventually”

?!
