In today’s news, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) presents Shining World Compassion Award to animal-people sanctuary in British Columbia, Canada, heavy monsoon rains flood regions in South Asia, US media criticize Biden and his administration’s war-like policies, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization provides Tanzania-based research center €600,000 to help enhance vegetable farming across Africa, man with Locked-in Syndrome in UK writes 50,000-word book with his eyes, Korean vegan food company expands distribution of products in United States, and program provides specialized care to wild animal-babies needing urgent veterinary attention in Türkiye.

Being compassionate means we consider all beings in our actions. I have a handy tip for us. Humans need shade, and so do plants! Be sure to keep your soil covered when it's hot out. After mowing, leave the grass clippings on your lawn. This will not only provide light shade to the soil to shield it from scorching temperatures, but it will also hydrate it and add back nutrients. You can also add a pile of clippings on flower beds to protect them from the heat. You can grow plants to help keep an area cool because bare soil quickly loses moisture and radiates more heat, making temperatures even hotter. Mulching also helps maintain soil moisture and keep temperatures constant. Give your plants and soil the love and attention they need!

This seems like a great moment to make your mood bloom with the following joke, called “Best Chocolate Bar Filling.”

“Mom, what’s the best thing to put into a vegan chocolate bar?”

“Well, there are a lot of things, Son. I love almonds in my chocolate bar, crispy rice, a little salt, peanuts, caramel...”

“No, Mom. Your teeth are the best thing to put in a vegan chocolate bar!”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Callie in Canada
