In today’s news, Afghanistan’s former poppy farmers receive US$10 million in assistance from Japan, climate change driving up food prices, deforestation in Colombia hits record low in 2023, Italy bans mobile phones in classrooms to improve writing skills, foster mom in Maryland, United States, acknowledged for decades of care, startup in Israel produces vegan salmon product, and rescued canine-people at nonprofit help US army veterans return to normal life.

Although it’s always better to prepare fresh foods at home, sometimes conveniently prepackaged foods are helpful in keeping a strict vegan diet. Here is a little food cleanliness tip for you. Although it’s common practice to drink directly from a canned beverage, it is recommended you pour the drink into a glass or cup prior to consuming it because the can’s surface can be contaminated with harmful bacteria. The tops of the cans can also be exposed to environmental contaminants during handling and storage. Before drinking or pouring from the can, clean it with tap water, then wipe it down with a dry towel to eliminate any bacterial load.

The good mood party is on as the joke of the day is here, so let’s join the fun. It’s entitled “Have a Great Day.”

When I greeted my usually grumpy boss this morning, I was shocked by his response:

“Have a good day!”

Afterwards, I thought to myself:

“Who am I to argue?”

So, I immediately headed out the door and went surfing. It was a great day!

And now we have a heartline from Ya-Wen in Taiwan, also known as Formosa:

These are words of my heart, from me to Master: One night, I made vegan cabbage soup for my parents (age 75 and 70). Later, I went back to my room to work on my computer and heard the conversation between my parents. My mom said the vegan soup tasted better than soup mixed with animal-people meat stock, which would have covered up the fresh fragrance of the soup. My dad said, “Supreme Master Ching Hai advocates veganism. (He had seen me watching Supreme Master TV.) The video showed how humans, in order to eat meat, abused little animals. They were all kept in very crowded places… Humans should be vegan…”

Supreme Master TV changed my parents’ way of thinking about veganism. I silently shed tears in my room. Master, You know something? When I first turned vegan, I went through excessive struggles and difficulties. I also felt it was very, very difficult to convey the concept to people around me, and that I would even be criticized. Gradually, everything seems not so difficult anymore. Even if others think World Vegan is just a dream or a vision in a bubble, I will still stick to my belief and try to influence people around me. Ya-Wen from Taiwan (Formosa)

Persevering Ya-Wen, It was a pleasure to read your heartline.

Master has some words of encouragement for you: “Generous Ya-Wen, we do our best to promote veganism in every way possible. God’s Will is with us in this great work. Thank you for helping your family members to change their life for the better. Remember to thank God every day for World Vegan, World Peace, as we turn our world into a vegan Paradise where animal-people are respected and loved as they deserve to be. May you and sparkling Taiwan (Formosa) be uplifted in the Buddhas’ great Wisdom. Love you so much. Please forward my greeting to your good parents, who gave birth to such a spiritual and filial child. They went through much hardship to give you a chance to be such a fortunate human. You be grateful too. Big Hug.”
